Gone but not forgotten (Part 1)
Research traces five St Mary Bourne Army reservists—Frederick Day, Sydney Gunnell, Edwin and James Pike, and Walter Sims—who rejoined the 1st Hampshire Regiment after Britain entered the First World War. Drawing on military, genealogical and local sources, it follows their deployment from Hampshire to France, the Retreat from Mons, major battles, trench warfare and the losses of Day and Gunnell.
